From the Clip Comedian George Carlin dies of heart failure posted by Tyme:
Comedian George Carlin, a counter-culture hero famed for his routines about drugs and dirty words, died of heart failure at a Los Angeles-area hospital on Sunday, a spokesman said.
Sad news to wake up to. I don't have a whole lot of empathy for most celebrity deaths, but this one actually hurts a bit. George Carlin was just such a real person. He had his problems, but he was always thinking. I'd actually put him somewhere between comedian and philosopher.
I'll miss him.
Here he is talking about death.

Anyone know exactly how old he was? He was a comedy genius.

Older than I thought and the way he ranted you always thought he would have a heart attack right there on stage.

I woke up to Ozone breaking the news over Twitter and I've been bummed out all day. I have TON'S of his stuff on my iPod.
He had this unique way of pointing out how dumb everything is, and making it hilarious.
He could talk politics and have everyone in stitches, even though you didn't agree with his stance on the issue.
Next to Bill Cosby, Carlin is on my legends list.

I think it was a combination of his intelligence, and not caring what people thought of him/never toeing the line. He said what he thought, and was very witty about it.

Like Corey @ 'Black Marks on Wood Pulp' said... "in his own words, he lived by the creed that it’s the duty of the comedian to find out where the line is drawn and cross it deliberately."
