The new version of Kanon 2006 is coming out really soon and I have to say, it looks beautiful and the music is quite uplifting.

I knew we were going to run into this little sooner or later. I watched the trailer and I wasn't that impressed.
I have a friend who rants about Kanon but then again he's the one who told me to watch kimi ga nozomu ein. I occasionally have nightmares about that anime.
As much as I love drama, wouldn't you have to say that the drama in kimi ga nozomu ein was a bit over the top?

Scrivs - Kanon is about a guy named Yuuichi who goes to live this his cousin, Minase Nayuki, and Aunt Akiko because of his parents moving to Africa. He's lived in the town 7 years before, but has very few memories of it. As he meets several girls in the town, his memories of them come back, bit by bit. As such, Kanon is driven purely by it's characters and storyline - which is an excellent move.
Michael - Yes, I DO believe that Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien was a little over the top. But it was very heartfelt and it had a powerful message so it's one of those animes I will watch again and again.

I'm sorry for being so anal but I'm very critical when it comes to things like this. I agree that Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien was a very powerful show. But did it really mean anything?
I think you'll see this a lot in anime (more specifically in the RPG/H-Game category) in which the show contains a lot of powerful drama but often leave viewers with the sense of "well that was great but why didn't that make any sort of sense?" Sort of thing.
I sometimes get the feeling that directors make these shows just to get a rise out of their audiences. It's a tough, I like drama but the drama stops being great after it stops being believable.

I got the show but I am going to need to see it again to explain it. Fortunately, I have all the episodes on Disc.
