Is it just me, or are high school kids who make videos on YouTube completely devoid of any original thought what so ever? I see nothing but spoofs, parodies that aren't funny at all, remakes of things already on the internet that are already remakes, satires, jokes that are much better in spoken form that they think is somehow funnier when they make a video of it, common place stupidity, etc.
Can I safely say I'm done watching YouTube, much less to say reading the comments?

Comedy ended with Monty Python. The rest is just derivative. ;-)

Most people start off by copying the people they look up to. Happens in comedy, art, music and even sports. Over time some people just fade while the others take their inspiration and make it their own. The fact you are calling out high school kids does nothing to show the lack of creativity they have, but just shows they are influenced by some people and simply wish to emulate them.
As for the comments, I can't stay away from the comedy of errors those things are.

I doubt the majority of high school kids in any generation were more super-creative than any other generation of high school kids.

I don't know Chris, you have to admit those Grease kids came up with some wild stuff. On the other hand The Breakfast Club wasn't original at all. Maybe that's when the gap started to form.

yeah, what peroty said.
chris - yep, but there are some cool moments out of each genreations that would make other generations go, "Ohhh!"

You're right. High school kid's movies are shite.
But sorry, man, you can't beat this ginger kids' video!

Or this one. You do have to admit that kids can be darn entertaining.

I agree. But big-picture-wise, I think it's been about the same level.

That's because they're all done in one day, with an improvised script. Also, many of our videos are assigned projects, which means a) people who don't like to act will be forced to act in videos, and b) our primary purpose isn't to entertain, but rather to get a good grade.
Also, that breakfast video is great!

It's called living in a postmodern world!
And I would argue that very few people, adults included, have many original thoughts, share their creativity, etc. You will notice that a great many videos on YouTube, made by adults, are in response to other videos. However, you cannot write off a whole age group (or website) due to its majority. You may miss something amazing by doing so.

No, you cannot. YouTube is everywhere, you couldn't avoid it if you tried!
Also, saying something like "high school kids" is a huge generalization that absolutely does not apply to all videos on YouTube by "high school kids"! Don't go and create stereotypes about young creative people with cameras!
