I love the Sopranos, but was anyone extremely disappointed in the series finale? I had high hopes in thinking that something really big was going to happen and I was definitely let down.
Anyone else feel the same?

Judging by the last few episodes, the bland and non-descript ending didn't surprise me.

I'm with you. I really expected more closure. Don't read further if you don't want to know what happens.
Honestly any number of things could have happened after the screen went black (I, like many, thought our cable had gone out)
a) Two black guys in the restaurant shoot Tony.
b) Suspicious-looking guy in Members Only jacket opens fire after using the restroom.
c) The resolution of the NY/NJ tiff (marked by Phil's death, DAMN, by the way) allows the family to live without fear, so Two Black Guys or Members Only Jacket Guy could just be harmless restaurant patrons.
Meh.
I wanted it to actually END, not be a "choose your own adventure" kind of thing.

Perfect way to setup a Sopranos movie, no?

I actually enjoyed it, the abrupt ending. Like jen said you could look at it a bunch of different ways. I saw all the suspicious looking people as representing possibility. The editing at the end was great at developing tension, and I thought it was used to highlight this point. That Tony lives in a world where everyone is suspect.
And when Meadow was running towards the restaurant the last sound you hear before it goes black is the ring of the door chime. I assumed she made it into the place. Thus the sound, and the completion of the family.
You know, Tony's with his family. They're doing good, but he still lives in a volatile landscape of deception and possible death. The ending juxtaposed those two worlds. It's sort of a "more of the same" conclusion. He could die in that restaurant. Or not. We don't know and neither does he. He never did. I thought it was fitting.

Griffin nailed it. It was a perfect ending.

The Sopranos rarely ever gave the type of closure you find in most movies/television/books/etc. But for some reason, everyone was expecting one now.
I liked it.

Ok Griffin, you raise good points for sure. All of that makes complete sense, but I that doesn't make me like how it ended any more. lol
And I highly doubt we'll see a Sopranos movie.
