Even though the story was tampered with, even though for some odd reason, Galactus has been reduced to some cloud like figure (which wasn't too much of a change), and even though I didn't like the choice to use Lawerence Fishbourne as the voice of the Surfer, this movie was actually very good.
I'm unsure if this comes from my dislike of Spiderman 3, or the idea that the previews were so incredibly kickass, but folks, I've got to tell you I am pleasantly surprised.
And this time around, the Stan Lee cameo was rather witty.

I'd quite like to see this one. If I recall correctly the first film didn't too well in reviews but I rather enjoyed it.

I didnt like the first one at all, it was really corny, but I want to see Rise of the Silver Surfer badly. I might go check it out today and hopefully it lives up to the hype.

Man I was really wishing they were going to stick with the comics on the Galactus aspect.

That is the single most frustrating thing in the entire movie for me. That, and the very end when he ends up NOT doing what he came to earth to do...how he ends up not doing it.
But I expected SOMEONE To fuck with the story.

You'd much rather him be a GIANT GUY IN A PURPLE SUIT? I suppose someone like Nolan or Singer could pull that off...but Tim Story showed us with the first FF movie that he likes to play it safer and take less risks. I very much enjoyed the first one, for the reasons I just stated, they didn't go out on any limbs or risk anything to make the movie terrible...it falls a bit flat because of that in some places, but I really enjoyed watching it.
From the reviews I've read, if you didn't like the first you probably won't like the second. Why the hell is this one only an hour and half long?!

If you can turn this...
Into this...
You can most certainly do something awesome with the comic version of Galactus.
You don't see Wolverine running around in yellow and blue tights do you? Yet he's still true to the comic as much as possible.

Gosh the first one was really terrible, but then I can't love Xmen movies either, Batman Begins was very good, as far as comics go, I'm 90% DC reader, however in the movies DC and Marvel are batting at around the same average, maybe Elektra and Daredevil should count as major calamities by Marvel though...

Wait, wait.
Does that Optimus Prime adaptation look stupid to someone other than me? because to me that really looks silly. Who is in charge of concept art?
And I agree with abeforementioned comments, I thought the first FF was horrible.

I just finished watching Fantastic Four, I liked it a lot. I've never really been into comics so I can't put my viewpoint on that, but it was definitely a good movie, a little more explanation could have gone into it, but I guess that's how movies are these days. I'd recommend it!

Yea, it was kind of esoteric to people who knew the story of Galactus and the Silver Surfer, but at the same time, they could have put more detail into the Surfer and the story in general.
Good point.

Despite being oblivious to the plot of the story, I had a chance to catch the film last night and I thought it was great. Like always, the storyline ends up being altered but I'm sure the message was still there. Great movie and amazing CGI.

I hated the first one, loved this second one. Silver Surfer deserves his own movie. Hell, let him team up with Wolverine for an oddball duo.

Yeah, thought this one was much better than the first. Mr. Fantastic is so damn goofy it upset me each time Jessica Alba gave him the time of day lol.

I'm sure (if there's going to end up being a third) Silver Surfer will have more of a part in it, I'm not much for comics as I said before, but they definitely opened it back up in the little cut scene after the first of the credits.

Silver Surfer is way over powered.
My friends and I were critiquing after we watched it, and one of them said, "The Silver Surfer was thrown in there when the comic authors were like, 'Oh crap. The earth really is going to die this time and we've backed ourselves into a corner. I know! Let's throw in an alien to get us out of this mess!'"
I'd consider myself borderline geeky when it comes to comics, but I liked the way Galactus was portrayed in this movie.

Well conceptually it made sense to make him a giant cloud because I think less explanation would be needed to take place for people to figure out how he destroyed worlds. If you just have a giant being the human mind goes to work and destroying him would be much harder than just flying into the middle and blowing up.

I saw FF4-2 this weekend as well and thought it was fairly well done, although it did have some cheesy parts. This is a much softer version of the superhero movie than we're typically used to, but I did enjoy it.
Transformers will rock your socks off folks...haven't seen it yet (of course) but I just know...mattie knows...
