A couple of fights for me:

Cell vs Gohan (nostalgia mmm)
Gaara vs Rock Lee
Luffy vs Rob Lucci

I really like the Gaara vs. Rock Lee scene too. Fight scenes in Cowboy Bebop were pretty wicked especially the ones where Spike fights Vicious.

The first really fight scene that took my breath away had to be Perfect Cell vs Son Gohan from DBZ. What a spectacle.

Greed vs Edward Elric is pretty fantastic, as is Gaara vs Rock Lee, when all those 'Gates' get opened, insane! That was the first episode of Naruto I saw in fact, still awesome.

Recently, the one that took me back, was in One Piece as Griffith has already mentioned: Luffy VS Blueno. In fact, I'm going to go watch it now. :)

The fight scenes from Black Lagoon rock. Same goes for Samurai Champloo and Rurouni Kenshin. But for some reason I prefer the ones in Black Lagoon, sure they are gunfights, but the one in the last 3 episodes of Black Lagoon: Second Barrage where a katana welding yakuza faces off the dual berretta totting heroine.

Serei no Moribito episode 3: Even though it is one of the very very few fight scenes, the choreography between Balsa and the hunters is pretty amazing. There is also a fight with Jiguro, as a bonus.

Everyone here mentioned most of my favorite ones, but I'm going to repeat them anyway. This scenes aren't ordered by preference, they are my favorite ones in no particular order.

#1 - Anime: Naruto - Rock Lee vs Gaara

I have yet to see a more kick-assier fight scene than this one. It instantly turned every Rock Lee hater (including myself) into his biggest fan.

#2 - Anime: Naruto - Naruto vs Sasuke

Maybe this fight scene wasn't that good, but everyone was anticipating it for so long because how long the episodes had been drawn, but it was still enjoyable to watch, and the best look that we've had at Naruto's (almost) full-fledged fox powers

#3 - Anime: Rurouni Kenshin - Battousai Himura vs Saito Hajime

Very short lived, but intense. In my humble opinion, the best demonstration of Kenshin's "Battousai" abilities in the whole series.

#4 - Anime: Evangelion (the End of Evangelion) - Asuka Langley VS MP Evas

There are a couple of "rage" scenes throughout the show, but I found this battle to be the best of them. Asuka and Eva 02 in their very best

#5 - Anime: Dragonball Z - Son Gohan VS Perfect Cell

For me, this is the climax of the entire Z series. No other battle came close to this one. The first time a secondary character becomes "stronger" than Son Goku, and finishes what he couldn't. I'm all for fan service, but if Dragonball Z had ended straight after that battle I would have been more than satisfied.

#6 - Anime: One Piece - Luffy VS Blueno

@Scrivs, I would have to agree with you about Afro-Samurai. Don't know if this counts, but in my fan-girl heart, I think the fight scenes in Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children were phenomenal.

Kenshin's fight versus Saito Hajime is one of my favorites. The entire Kenshin OVA also has great memorable fights.

Another one of my favorites wasn't exactly from a fighting series. It was from Slam Dunk where Hanamichi and the rest of his team couldn't fight back otherwise their season would be ended. The suspense and the final monster fist to the face was pretty memorable :)

Oh and another one that I really enjoyed was the epic duel between Guts and Griffith in Berserk. Well that entire series was filled with epic battles; Guts vs Zodd, Gutts vs 100 men, etc etc

Ahhh and how could I forget about Hajime no Ippo? The entire series was great... the one that stands out to me the most, probably because it's the most recent, is the OVA match between Kimura and Mashiba. Memorable stuff right there!

naruto sasuke 1 is epic, and done well by Norio Matsumoto(松本憲生) who also did another great fight, although shitty ending, rock lee vs gaara, the fight scene for rock lee in the 3rd naruto movie, sasuke vs orochimaru, and the hokage battle, which was damn good. all his work looks so fluid and natural.

like was mentioned, most of the fights in champloo are great

the battle sequences in FLCL are awesome as well, but what would you expect from gainax.

The fight between Ed and Gluttony in the FMA: Conqueror of Shamballa is a favorite. That one was crazy and really had me going. There's quite a few good ones in the series too.

I want to say Full Metal Alchemist, but I can't remember the characters for the life of me. If you want to see some twisted fight scenes let me recommend Gantz. Most anime has fight scenes where the only consequence is a bad injury, but Gantz seriously takes things to another level.

Even though the character animation in it goes way off-model, Noein has some ultra fluid smackdown.

Cowboy Bebop, so epic.
Samurai Champloo, of course every fight scene rocks, but this last one has all the emotion.
Afro-Samurai.

I was watching an AMV of the Naruto vs. Sasuke fight today and it made me wonder what great anime fight scenes there are. I started to think of Kenshin and Outlaw Star, which are pretty different styles of fighting. I know these probably aren't the best, but I did enjoy them. Are there any anime fights scenes that really stick out in your mind?
