I just got done watching the Trigun DVD Set this week and after watching it again my appreciation for the series has only grown. It can only really be appreciated when viewed in large clumps because you have to see the change that Vash goes through from beginning to end. We are first introduced to a clumsy, hungry, womanizing goofball who we can't imagine being worth the $$60,000,000,000 on his head.

During the show though we get to understand what this man has been through and why he acts the way he does. The animation is old, but will remain a classic. We laugh during the first half of the series and cry during the second when we get a view into the past of Vash and watching characters we grow to love die.

The ending is good and very appropriate to the show, unlike the original ending for Evangelion (*cough*). It also leaves open a possibility for a movie if they so wished (creators of the show, feel free to hit me up for ideas). All in all, if you haven't gotten the chance to see the series I suggest you do so. You can have the DVD set for fairly cheap and if you already have it then go have a look back at it again.

Wow Scrivs I remember watching Trigun a long time ago and Vash is still one of my favorite characters in anime. I remember one particularly disturbing flashback episode where child Knives turns the entire ship's crew against each other; he essentially exploits human nature.

It's a very good watch for anyone who can afford to get the DVD's cheap. I have to get down to watching it properly some day. It's a classic.

Yeah, Knives throws you off completely simply because the villians up to that point are almost comical at best and you finally get to see the true face of evil in the series. Of course Knives wasn't any worse than the women I meet, always manipulating people...

Trigun is one of my favorite shows.. and Vash the Stampede is one of my favorite characters.

Vash does have a lot of complexity. I think it is towards the end where you see Vash and his brother as kids, on the colonization ship. I really learned a lot about Vash and his history from this episode(s).

I need the DVDs!!!

Yeah Vash is almost too likeable, but he works effectively because you have this almost superhuman hero, who is actively trying to be as human as possible. He is humble and caring and the emotions that he emits are truly sincere and that leads us to trust him. We begin to laugh and cry with him and always want him to find a way out of a situation by doing it his way (if you know the show you know what I mean).
