Sentenced to 45 days in prison and after 3 days, Paris has left the building.

Why? Undislosed medical reasons.

I'm sorry, but even people who have heart attacks and terminal diseases don't get RELEASED because they're sick. They have medical treatment in jail.

I can pretty much sum up her "medical problem" for you. The DA got a fat paycheck in the mail.

MAN I love justice

Honestly, you could have seen this coming a mile away. That doesn't surprise me at all.

@jphill- agreed!

Doesn't shock me either... I just hate that no matter WHERE I turned there was someone bitching about how "unfair" this was for poor Paris...

Have we gotten so bad in this country that our laws don't apply to people we deem celebrities? If so... I give up.

I need to remember that when I rob my next bank.

I think it only works if your dad is filthy rich and you have no redeeming value to society except your ability to look like a cheap drag queen.

I was surprised... maybe I'm an idealist or something, but I thought that after they actually sentenced her, she was going to have to deal with it. And that maybe she'd come out a better person on the other end of those 23 days.

The U.S. [in]justice system really sucks.

*cough* OJ *cough*

She was going to be segregated from gen pop anyways, "for her personal safety". Meaning she had a private cell block.

She's a celeb, regardless of what anybody says or thinks, celebrities get a free pass in this country. I don't condone it, but it's a fact of life in America.

It's sick, but true.

jmathias is exactly right, celebs get a free ride. Basically if you have buttloads of money to throw around you can do whatever you want, and the law is extremely limited.

All the time you hear about athletes getting arrested for drunk driving, yet, not much at all happens to them. If that was me getting arrested for drunk driving, that would damn near ruin my life.

It's all about being able to afford that special lawyer.

Maybe she got sick in her room -thought it was one her crappy hotels rooms :-)

More power to her I say. If you have the power to get out of jail, you're on to a good thing. I don't have time for all this boo-hooing about injustice. I'm sure I'll feel different when I'm in her position, but until then, fuck it. Nice one, Paris.

(Note that this doesn't mean I don't think she deserves to be there. Because she does.)

So...the news is that her "medical condition" was a rash.

Go figure.

Well...either that or being "psychologically bummed." Conflicting reports.

...And that's all the time I'm going to spend on that.

I just wish she'd stop taking up space and oxygen.

Damn, imagine what this country would be like if we let every convict with a rash out. One has to wonder though... what KIND of rash it was?

Paris Hilton is a whiney baby

Thesis topic for a Master of the Obvious degree, eh?

heheh yeah :)

I thought I'd do better to restrain whay I ACTUALLY wanted to call this thread. It had too many bleeps in it ;)

I could care less about Paris Hilton but

It's because the public makes them celebs. Without the public fawning all over them and buying up the media coverage they would not be celebs. If the celebs were actually people with some redeeming value it would be different but most of the pop culture celebrities have no value at all.

I'm more inclined to agree with Rich here. I mean after all is said and done...who's the one doing the most whining?

People we like get away with all sorts of things and we don't complain. The issue here is not that Paris got out of jail free but rather that a lot of people don't like what Paris stands for.

Oh, she stands for something?

What might that be?

Obviously, not enough of you signed the petition.

This just in: Paris will be back in court tomorrow. It looks like the LA City Attorney doesn't think the Sheriff's office had the authority to release her from jail.

So, apparently, RightOn, it was the Sheriff, not the DA who got the fat paycheck.

I think you're all missing the point here. They were just protecting the other inmates.

It disturbing that this is actually news.

It used to be that the celeb stuff was just on the gossip shows like Entertainment Tonight and E! But now it's actually on all my local news stations... :sigh:

Yesterday, Paris had lunch!

Meanwhile the guy with TB is already out of the news... oh, and we should forget all the people he came in contact with...

F'n sensationalistic TV crap.

It's a shame what celebs and rich people get away with...

@Ozone42 - I agree

The people who contribute the least amount to society but have money should be reviled not catered to like the suckling pigs that they are.

Amazingly it appears as though she will be facing down her ENTIRE 45 day sentence.

Hilton was hit with the bomb this afternoon and was screaming "Mom, mom, it's not right!" as she left the courtroom in tears.

All I can say is HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA BIATCH!

Ok, I'm done being a dork ;)

I'm giddy right now.

Video footage or it didn't happen.

dude i watched it all, it happened. check youtube soon

C'mon Rich... Leet Haxor skills and you can't find a video? :P

BTW, THIS made my day...

Haha. Dude, I live on the news, I've seen it.

I just provide the funnies, ok?

I thought it was appropriate that the Sheriff responsible for overriding the judge's decision is a Scientologist. I'm sick of those swine corrupting this city. Everywhere I go, I come out of a bar, pub, club or anywhere in Hollywood and there they are, ready to convert you to their money-grubbing, celebrity-worshipping religion.

I'm not going to be "in control of everything" or find the "God within me" because I don't have hundreds of thousands of dollars to attend all their classes. Right. Oh yeah, and all psychiatry is bad. Yeah, you better believe it--they dedicated a museum to such. (Link taken down bc they have a reputation of stalking their opponents...not taking chances.)

Thankfully, Scientology hasn't established any kind of operation in Iceland. And honestly, I'd stand up if they tried.

cooper: I don't know man, what is it about her that really ticks people off? I know that she did some commercials and has a TV show but other than that what gives? I didn't know that popular culture was that unpopular.

BTW nobody has mentioned why she was arrested in the first place. DUI, bad Paris *shakes head*.

she was arrested for DUI, lost her license, got caught again driving on a suspended license.

So I can't resist also adding that it was discovered that Paris' grandfather contributed to the Sheriff's reelection campaign. I found it exceptional that they undermined that fact by saying it was only a $1000 contribution--when that's actually the maximum they can contribute. Celebrity justice for ya...brought by yours truly. :P (LATimes)

@hthth: I believe England actually has a government staute that prohibits the "religion." Good for them.

She was given 36 months probation, mandatory alcohol education, and a $1,500 fine in 2006 for reckless driving while under the influence of alcohol. She drove again (twice that we know of) on a suspended license, and was stopped by the police, twice for driving without a license

for all the ins and outs of her misdemeanours see
http://www.showbuzz.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/06/11/people_hot_water/main2912687.shtml

I am sOOOOOO happy she's back in. Brilliant. She may actually learn something while she's there.

And let's face it, she had enough money to pay for a driver, so it's not like she couldn't have got out and about without her driver's license.
