In spite of the potential geek fest that this question will produce I have decided to move forward to find out what the best Star Wars movie was. In my opinion you can't touch Empire Strikes Back. Solo gets frozen, Luke finds out Vader is the father and gets his hand cut off.
We see Yoda. We see that Vader wishes to overthrow the Emperor. It's all setup nicely.

Story wise, Empire Strikes Back and Revenge of the Sith. For me, the whole story is pretty much summed up and tied together nicely in those two.
Experience wise, gotta go with the first (A New Hope). Went to go see it on my 14th birthday with my friends. It was all magical back then in the day.

I love Revenge of the Sith but I consider the first three a whole different ball game.
I'd have to say that the BEST original one is A New Hope. The ORIGINAL original one, not the fancied up additional CGI crap he re-released.

I consider the first three a huge budget bad joke.
Empire Strikes Back gets my vote.
I like A New Hope and Return of the Jedi fine, but I feel Empire was the strongest by far.

The best cinematic parts of the Star Wars legacy aren't in any film - they're in the games.
Knights of the Old Republic, Jedi Knight, even Republic Commando all had amazing plots and the interactive element, for me, pitches them far beyond the reaches of any of the films.
But if I'm not allowed to cheat, Return of the Jedi gets my vote.

I will always remember seeing the first one and it being revolutionary for the time. The story on Empire Strikes Back was probably the best.
