Has anyone else been keeping watch on this?
The marketing campaign behind the new Nine Inch Nails album seems more complicated and in-depth than the Halo2/ilovebees altered reality game.
I applaud the creativity, and am anxious to hear the rest of the album.
Here's a rolling stone article with a lot of background info

Hah, as if NIN need to advertise for that. I'd buy (read: download) that album the second it's publicly released. I don't need an alternate reality game to get excited about something :D
EDIT: I mean... uhhh... You shouldn't be reading that crap. It's liberal anarchist trash.
:p

do you really think Trent Reznor's still vigor to do anything creative cept for that aggressively 'with teeth' promo profile?

It looks interesting but it seems to be more of a time waster and political commentary on the current state of Fear and War in this country to really MEAN anything to me.
Sure I'll listen to the music but the other stuff is just fluff.

I thought it was fun and impressed the fans figured stuff out... but then I quickly dismissed it.

Definitely watching, but I've lost a little interest in the ARG. The most exciting thing related to it I've seen lately is the teaser video that ends with "The Presence."
Good stuff.
That aside, I'm very excited about the album. The four tracks out so far are fantastic. The newest (the beginning of the end) has this solo that's just... noise. It's beautiful.
I'm a little biased though. The woman and I saw them live three times last year, heh.

In this Twilight is probably one of my favourite tracks from Trent of all time.
The ARG is very 1984. I don't know Trent's politics really. Obviously he'a anti-bush, but even though I voted for Bush I'm pretty anti-bush myself. At least, I think we could do a lot better.
But yeah, as was said earlier, I tend to displace music from it's time and political frame and just enjoy it as music instead.

Yeah, it's cool and everything, but beyond solving the mystery, it really doesn't give much to the fans. Unless I'm missing something here?

Year Zero is now up for listening on YearZero.Nin.Com
For free. Enjoy!
I'm surprise the level of melody on this album, it's a nice change, Trent never dissapoints.

No matter how interesting or creative it is, it'll still be Nine Inch Nails...

Thanks mr. obvious!
Heh, no really, I don't understand the statement. If you don't like it, that's cool. I for one value interesting and creative, regardless of who is doing it.

I've only semi-followed the YZ drama.
The new album is fantastic (being a completely biased NIN fan may color that).
I'm curious to see where the Year Zero ride goes, and what comes of it.
And what else Trent and Saul Williams do, because I fell in love with Saul when he opened for NIN in Richmond last year.
