I still don't get the point of using Last.fm.
I'm using coversutra to scrobble songs, but I really don't understand why all of Last.fm are still scrobbling while the big winners are amazon and last.fm while users gets nothing...

If only there were more "interaction" with iTunes like a plug in that will show you infos on the track or who is listening to it right now or else it would be more interesting for members like me (that never opens www.last.fm)

For me, last.fm is all about the stats. I've been a registered user for three years and a statistically significant amount of my listening habits are stored on its servers. Through the Audioscrobbler backend, all that data is all open and accessible for 3rd-party tools that help me discover trends, insights and relationships.

Other users enjoy the community aspect, being able to network with like-minded listeners and receive recommendations.

Besides, I'm sure Last.fm could vanish and Amazon wouldn't even notice.

Mmm excellent point of view, I changed my view point ;)
So let's keep on scrobbling :)

Scrobble on! I have discovered some new stuff through Last.fm by visiting my neighbors. I love checking out what my friends are listening to (because most of them work in the music industry). And whenever I don't know what to listen to I just put on my recommendation radio.

I signed up for Last.FM about a year ago, and i think it's been really interesting to see where my stats have gone. Granted, i could have told you the top 3 bands without the stats, but it's interesting nonetheless.

As for Amazon and Last.fm making money and me getting nothing? When you find a website that pays me for using it, let me know! ;)

For now, i'm content with just seeing my musical statistics, those of my friends, and maybe if i get bored looking for new bands.

While I'm usually quick to adapt technology I've never been able to get down with Last FM and services like it. I'm kind of snobby about music but I tend to have a lot of it around wherever I go so I usually rely on my own collection.

I've been scrobbling for quite awhile now and I have to say that I don't peruse any of the recommendations made to me. Some friends of mine have expressed disappointment in them before. But I can't say.

Like already expressed above, I do really enjoy keeping track of my artists and track rankings. Sometimes, I won't sync up my iPod before playing from my laptop (which makes the iPod scrobbling essentially spam because it's out of order) and so *some* stats are missing--but it's still interesting to see nonetheless.

It's fascinating--the charts and graphs people have been able to put together on last.fm users.

I love last.fm for the tracking of what i listen to. I can point to my last.fm page when someone says, what have you been listening to lately.

If you pay for last.fm (at least when i did) the "listen to your own radio" feature makes it worth it over and over because, you get priority on the servers and you can listen to a mix of your music, without having your entire collection. Very helpful when working remotely at someone else's house or just chilling at a friends and want to turn on a nice mix.
