I watched Heima on my projector with the surround sound in full effect and it's absolutely breath-takingly beautiful. I loved every second of it. :)

I love Sigur Ros and hearing them in rich surround sound on 100" was marvelous. :)

I watched the trailer to this. It looks soooooo beautiful i was in shock. I hadnt pictured Iceland to be so lush in scenary. It looks absolutely amazing. I think this is going straight onto my Amazon wanted list.

Saw the movie this weekend. Basically we follow the band through several concerts they held unnanounced and free of charge while traveling the Icelandic countryside.

Most of the movie are clips from these concerts, with short interviews in between. This doesn't make me a perfect candidate for reviewal because I generally don't like/watch music videos nor concert recordings. However, I found this one remarkably entertaining and if you're into movies like that (& Sigur Rós), you'll most definitely enjoy it.

Obviously there are some awesome landscape shots (as notable in the trailer) — and coupled with Sigur Rós' music it's all the more powerful and strange to watch.

During the entire length of the movie, there was a word/concept that I continually felt the presence of: Personality. Everything projects a strong or strange character — the landscape, the music, the musicians and their audience. Even though I live in- and know Iceland, there was a mood imbued that I felt gave me a fresh perspective on familiar things.

All in all, I think it was a well worth my time and recommend you see it. (But you better have a highres screen with a good sound system to get the full impact!)

Edit: By the way, their finale concert in Reykjavik had a f***ng awesome stage design. I didn't go when they held it, but don't remember why.

An answer long time in the making: Well, kind of. These are mostly the rural parts — the countryside, mixed with abandoned farms for artistic value :) But yeah, most of the countryside is like that.

I'm going to see Heima this Saturday. Started showing last weekend at the Reykjavik Film Festival. Look forward to it.

estarla, if you've only listened to Takk... you should really check out ( ) and Ágætis Byrjun. They are both incredible.

Saw them live a while back. Unfortunately I was up in nosebleed, but it was an excellent show.
