It's not often you come across a song and a video that you can describe as epic. I know I only have a few in my head and this song and video is one of them. Such a great song with deep lyrics and meaning and the video is just as good and totally engaging.
Goes with the theory that if a music video is 9 minutes long it has to be good.

I don't know which is worse, losing someone you love because they died or losing someone you lose because they do not want to be with you.
When I thought my fiance died that pain was indescribable, but dead is dead. I mourned not being able to be with him but it wasn't his choice to die. When someone prefers not to be with you and there is nothing you can do to fix it, there is isn't an on/off valve on love. True, 99% of the time it simply wasn't meant to be (otherwise it would work out) but the pain is still very real...in both situations. I always thought death was worse but I don't buy that anymore. I see merit in the other side.

I've always loved the whole guitar rock / symphony orchestra combo thing. November Rain has always been one of my faves.

Don't know why more artists across all music genres don't add orchestras to their music. Always seems like sure fire way to success, but I can imagine it actually takes musical talent from a producer's standpoint to even come up with something like that.

I used to do a series on my blog called rocksymphony weekends, where I would summarize the week with a video of a rock band backed by an orchestra. There were some good ones out there. I haven't done one in a while, might need to get back to it -- if I can find some more videos.
I like the whole sweet and sour vibe that it gives off. I've always been somewhat of a rock head (although I go the whole gamut of genres -- as long as it has raw emotion that I can feel, than I'm a fan), so what do I do? I marry a band / orchestra teacher.

I'm sure you two make beautiful music together. (/end corny joke)

The trouble is that it makes me think of French and Saunders...

I loved that song and video, still do. I'm going to have to dig that out of that last box of CDs I never unpacked from when I moved a couple of years ago. That's a pretty memorable solo there that Slash did.

If you like symphonic rock music you should check out Trans-Siberian Orchestra. They are re-doing christmas songs with rock/symphonic elements and very interesting arrangements.
