Trent Reznor is inviting his fans to steal NIN's music, at least until those "mother f---ers will get it through their head that they're ripping people off and that's not right".
What do you think? Why not leaving Universal and starting up an independent label then? Do top bands still need the majors' support?

I'm pretty sure NIN is leaving after they fulfill their contract (one more album).

Major labels support is still very important in commercial sense if they choose to promote you with their full potential, but a band like NIN would easily make it on their own also... Smaller bands are usually better off without majors, because majors usually don't put their effort in them, but more commercial bands do need the marketing power of majors if they want to keep up the high income level (like they would need so much money in the first place...)
