I enjoyed it. This stayed with me:
An alarming amount of people live a lie...they are different depending on who they are talking to or who they are hanging out with. But eventually all the lies come out and it all crumbles. I think people do that people they are afraid of the judgments people they care about might place upon them, not realizing the lies are much more painful.

TYME!!!
True... It goes back to peer pressure. The fear of not being accepted by the "in crowd" who 9 times out 10 only looked to belong to hide their own shortcomings.
But I also makes me think of how allot of these cats get a little cheese and start flaws'n like they are in fact "Super Stars" when in the grand scheme of things they are play'n themselves. Young "street wise" kid gets signed to a deal and takes his advance as free money only to be hit over the head later when he does not meet his numbers. Now he's got to pay that pack and then some.
"Where's your money?" He's wearing it around his neck, on his wrist and it's sitting in the driveway. Why? because he now needs to "appear" to be the man who is now the hottest thing on the shelf.
Mos Def put it perfectly...

:)
Yeah, I know...then they act surprised, "How could this happen?". It saddens me when I see people frontin'...because that is what they are doing. Being fake. Unfortunately, the industry itself breeds that. Growing up I remember when going to the club meant live entertainment by people you bought records from. They'd chill with you and I'm grateful I had that experience as a kid.
I made the sad mistake of flipping channels and landed on MTV the other day. Some show called Sweet 16. The boy's parents gave him a party that had half-naked dancers (that he picked), price was no object, he got a fully loaded Escalade and 16K in cash. When he wanted to go to the mall with his friends he asked his Dad for some money and he was given 3K in cash...and his father asked if that was enough. He was being taught to flash and the truly sad thing? People who flash don't have true friend because it is always about the money.
