I wonder how the peace sign and smily face would translate... I agree, the message would have to be pictural, maybe in sound or numbers code. Something universal, not a particular language.

I do it with craft and remodeling projects, especially quilting. It starts with fascination and great motivation. Developing the concept, getting the supplies, drawing out the steps and several months in, I am very bored or something else takes my interest and time. Sometimes I only go back or finish the project with the motivation of guilt.
The original Star Trek series. It really wasn't so much about the acting but the new (for that time) concepts. A world and community of different races that commanded respect was first presented in that show.
In order to "respect the past" you have to have the knowledge or experience of that time first. Most people don't. I see this in many fields besides music and art. It's especially in politics, writing and much foreign policy.
I cry very easily and actually enjoy the process! I made a list of the movies that everyone mentioned so I can catch them all. Hands down though was 'The Notebook'. Sometimes I get teary eyed watching the national or international news when I see visually how people live or what they experience in other parts of the world. I like to start with just one tear in one eye and graduate very fast, like a sports car going 0-70 mph in seconds!
I don't have a photo but I'll use words. My desk at home has a magnet on the monitor that reads "A Computer is Only as Smart as the Dumbest Person Using It". Under the monitor is a light weight knick-nack of an old-fashioned typewriter.
Vinyl---always and forever! I have a stereo system that can play CD's as well, so I do have some. And the public library offers them. I find records in mint condition at garage and estate sales. I collect my favorite musc genre which most people don't respect nowadays; folk music was so anti-war in message, I'm really surprised people haven't rediscovered it.
I start my documentation of what the problem is and the time / date of the call, what I have been told so far and names of people and departments I've been transferred to. I have been known to clock the time of the hold. If this process gets my blood running, I practise speaking calmly. I drink more coffee.
And these are the role models ...
" As G-d is my witness" from Gone with the Wind. I think it often but don't say it outloud.
I wonder what there is about me that would give away I really like red, seedless grapes-but only if they are on sale? Is your friend psychic in other ways, too?
American Pie by Don McLean-the words make no sense but the song defines Baby Boomerhood
The Times They are A'Changing by Bob Dylan
Time in a Bottle by Jim Croce
"... they're both on the same wavelength" Yea, they figure their wedding is really a Halloween party! What do the parents of the couple wear?
Unchained Melody by the Rightous Brothers and American Pie by Don McLean. Oldies but goodies.
He is the only thing I liked about opera. His family and music lovers all over the world will forever remember and miss him.
I've been thinking carefully. It is true that comic strips are not news but they might have a political message. I don't think it's just PC that dictates my decision. What if a comic strip portrays my religion in a very negative light? I would hope the ADL would become involved.
I think purchasers of the paper (readers) and companies who bought ads have the right to read whatever they want and advertise their product wherever they want. But the truth is that I'm a hyprocrite because if a comic portrayed my religion in a negative manner, I honestly do not think it's good enough to choose not to read it...
This waverng opinion is sometimes behind the 'Not In My Backyard' mentality. It's so embarrassing to find myself writing these words.
Is this what sanity looks like?
Going back a little, the original Star Trek series and then Thirty Something. Every couple of years, there's an original Star Trek Marathon, and even though it looks pretty dated now, I still love it.
My outer trappings (owning and caring for my home and land, leisure time and hobbies, even my profession and setting I choose to practise it!) leads people to think I am very traditional and fitting into society easily. The inside that is invisible but known to me, is very comfortable with the sense of trying to change society to be more caring and compassionate.
I'm in count down mode as I'm getting closer to a meaningful family wedding. I did check out the links, though, and they provided today's laugh! Thank you!
Sometimes I actually find my glasses without having them on when I'm looking.
Sometimes I see a person the way they physically looked many years ago.
Sometimes I forget I don't know anything about make-up and pretend the mirror makes me an expert!
It was not a 'good' photo; it was a GREAT photo! HaHa and thank you!
I just thought of something very weird. It's the stereotype that dogs tend to look like their masters-- after all, we already established it's a 'family'!
First impression is the photo is appropriate throw-up material. That said, let's acknowledge that some family somewhere loves him--he's a family member!
I don't think it's OK to gawk and ridicule/gossip about someone directly unless their fame depends and promotes this. I figure it's the same with bloggers or use of the net in any way. Like TV; change the channel. Radio; the station. Net; delete or don't read. Exercise your choice to ignore.
I salute and thank her although she did go a bit too far.
I don't remember what it was called so I'll describe it and someone will please supply the noun. Girls wore these tops that were very 'form fitting' and had snaps at the bottom. From one girl to others: it made using the bathroom difficult!
Wait! Wait! I finally have a good example of the kind of humor we have in the school district. We have a yearly budget of about $100 million. For the past four years, the secretaries in one department have wanted a coat rack because they have nowhere but the backs of their chairs to put their coats. Although the coat rack was available at local places like Target, they were told it had to be ordered through a firm my district does regular business with. This place was charging three times the local price. Each year, the secretaries filled out the paperwork in triplicate and the order was approved and initialled by layers of administrators. Mysterious reasons resulted in the object never appearing. Today the coat rack was delivered. The weather is such that it is not needed for at least five months!
I work in a public school in the field of social work and mostly about special ed classes / students / families. To tell you the truth, not very much of what I do or see is funny. I really do think my district would be more fun to work in if there was a space for humor. As a bunch, we are too intense. Maybe if I were in more of an office environment...I'd find more things to giggle about!
I'll just stick to the safe stuff like wiggling ears or touching your nose with your tongue.
Please, please don't put Dick Clark on the list! I can't do New Year's Eve without him!

I got it! It surely would have to be music. The problems would be "what music" and "selected by whom" !
