I might go check it out tonight
I've seen the musical and I was actually a fan of it (come on, a demon barber?). I have high hopes for the movie.
I can't watch these things all the way through. Shit is brutally disturbing.
Can't front on Chris Brown's performance (I checked it out after reading about it here). That kid performs like he has something to prove. That's all these other people need to do, right?
The Sopranos is still my favorite show.
The Sopranos rarely ever gave the type of closure you find in most movies/television/books/etc. But for some reason, everyone was expecting one now.
I liked it.
I remember Kanye performing the song acapella a very long time ago at a poetry reading and it wasn't too bad.
chris - yep, but there are some cool moments out of each genreations that would make other generations go, "Ohhh!"
I agree. But big-picture-wise, I think it's been about the same level.
I doubt the majority of high school kids in any generation were more super-creative than any other generation of high school kids.
both "i" and "e" are cool, just don't put em together.
Requiem for a Dream and the music/score from Sin City.
Little girls are funnier than most paid comedians.
All I know is I saw Storch's response video and I was over it.
CunninLynguists - "A Piece of Strange" album has some of that soulful goodness that you might be interested in. They have some songs from the album on their myspace.
PackFM is bringing back the Brooklyn bounce on his album, whutduzFMstand4. It's more in line with Get 'Em High, although there's a couple dark beats, too. I really dig the production through-out this album.
Word. I haven't really wanted to see a movie since The Departed (and even around that time, I was looking forward to 300). Sign me up, mane.
People have mentioned not hearing Joe Rogan's material and this-and-that about Joe Rogan, but that's not really the issue here. The issue is some dude is a thief.
Yeah, I'm definitely a fan of Gondry's work - I'll have to check this out.
Here's a link for the trailers. Good stuff.
Joe Rogan says there will be a part 2 of the video.
I might get some shit for this, but I think he and Dane Cook are in the same boat
Funny enough, Dane Cook has also been accused of stealing material. There's a clip of some Louis CK stuff matched up to a couple bits of Dane Cook's material floating around the internet.
Been a Joe Rogan fan since the late 90's and I highly doubt he would just make something like this up. Him and Mencia have been going back and forth at each other on radio shows and such for quite a while now. I always knew it would erupt one day.
So far, since the video made it's way around the internet:
* Carlos Mencia has had the original video taken off YouTube and the original uploader had his account deleted
* Joe Rogan got banned from the comedy store
* Joe Rogan got a call from his agent (who also represents Carlos) who said that Carlos is demanding an apology. If there's no apology, Carlos wants Joe to be dropped by the agency - or he leaves. Joe said it's been fun working with them and hung up.
From Joe Rogan's blog:
Now can you IMAGINE if I was a young, struggling comic and all this shit went down? THAT is the really ugly part of it.
Now you know why people don't speak up about this shit.
I can't think of one that I really liked. Does Eternal Sunshine count? haha
I really like love stories, but not romantic movies. I can't get enough of the ups and downs (mostly downs) of Tony Soprano's marriage.
My girlfriend hates The Notebook and everytime we see a book by that author, she must point it out in disdain.
I dig a lot of stuff done by Michel Gondry like "Bachelorette" by Bjork.
I'm not a fan of most music videos, though.
Oh and "MY FATHER WAS A BRILLIANT MAN!!!"
The whole story of his first Breaking and Entering is hilarious. "I DID MY BEST!"
Yeah, I have no idea where the other note went. I'm positive I replied in it because someone sent me a message in response to what I said...
Anyway, my answer from there was: a mix of everything, while leaning more towards hip hop.
Jay-Z, Nas, some underground hip hop (Tonedeff, PackFM, CunninLynguists), Tori Amos, Dido, E.S. Posthumus, Barenaked Ladies, my friend's band (Clear Stridency), Nelly Furtado, No Doubt, Fiona Apple, Esthero and on and on.
There was a recent music + design note where some people dropped their listening habits and suggestions. But now I can't find it. I fail.
I just started reading Red Dragon, actually.
As far as movies, I'll have to go with Silence of the Lambs. I definitely liked the very first meeting between Clarice Starling and Dr. Lecter.
I liked her accent. I read on IMDB that Jodie Foster was shocked when Anthony Hopkins mocked her accent because it was unrehearsed and he did it on the spot.
I dig it. Been checking out her other stuff, too.
You have to stay awake a full 24 hours when you're saving the world.
No, I feel like it wasn't that tasty.
I'm with chris' girlfriend.
Tell her I said hi. (non-tasteless joke)
By the way, I shared some of them with my girlfriend who was not even slightly amused.
^ Just like me.
I assume you must be tasteless (even if it's for a brief period) to come up with tasteless jokes.

I've been playing the Sweeney Todd soundtrack lately. And I like the soundtrack for Fight Club, too.
