Haha, I like it how we turned this into a Smiths note.

Anyways, music that brings back memories? What normally happens for me, is that I get really into an album, listen to it a ton until I get sick of it, abandon it for six months, then listen to it again, say "this is awesome," and repeat the cycle. The first time I listen to it again after six months always brings back memories from last time I was into it, but they are soon replaced by memories from the time I'm listening to it now.

Does that make any sense at all?

We can also look at it like this:

1. Get really into album X
2. Listen to it a ton, until I get sick of it
3. Abandon it for six months
4. Stumble across it and say "hey, I used to love this album!"
5. Listen to it for the first time in six months
6. Bring back memories of the time around steps 1 and 2
7. Repeat

I love the Smiths so much...

Makes sense to me.
I'd say it's whatever you want to call it. A record, an album, a CD, a release (in label terms). I don't think one term is better than another, although I personally use "album."

I saw Happy Feet on opening day, just for this trailer. Happy Feet was pretty good, but the trailer was amazing.
After our showing, I sneaked into a later showing to watch the trailer again.

I've got 1,432 in my itunes, but many are illegal.
