Favorite Obscure Super-Hero?

Comics Community — Posted: Dec. 29, 2007  ...   Last By: Gnorb @ 11 months ago

This is a pretty straightforward question: what's your favorite super-hero, excluding all the well known ones like Superman, Batman, Wolverine, and Scooby Doo (IMHO, Scooby is a super-hero)? Why?

Mine has got to be Gambit from X-Men (some have said X-Men aren't super-heroes, but I beg to differ). He can manipulate kinetic energy, perform hypnosis, is skilled in bōjutsu (staff fighting), and can throw cards. On top of all of that, he's from Louisiana and sports a thick Cajun accent. Show me a cooler, more obscure super-hero than that.

My second choice would have to be the Green Lantern. He's not as obscure as Gambit, but he's obscure enough.

Read the Bourne Series, and then watch the movies. That's what I'm doing. :)

The Simpsons is a half-hour part of my week-daily "Fox Fix" which goes like this, starting at 10 pm: Simpsons, Seinfeld, King of the Hill*, That 70's Show, Malcolm in the Middle, King of the Hill*.

* (which is my favorite)

I love the Simpsons. It's not full of jokes, but sometimes it can be pretty funny, in a childish way. Futurama is also good.

Haha, I thought this looked like the work of XKCD.

JeffJ: The Gears of War thing has already been ruled out. Most people think that J.J. is up to something original. Doing something based on a game, Godzilla, Lost, etc. would probably ruin his reputation.

There are speculations that the name will be revealed at ComicCon next Thursday, and that more information will come August 1st. I haven't seen any trailers on TV yet, but I think it will be about 4 months before JJ starts using conventional advertising methods.

Has anyone researched this Cloverfield project? The preview for it was played before Transformers, and it was the coolest trailer ever.

I've been looking all over the internet for clues and it seems to be one of the most interesting viral campaigns I've ever come across. Apparently, more information will be released on August 1st, according to clues I linked together.

If you're interested, start here: Cloverfield Trailer

Then go here: Official Site

You'll get hooked. The theories are popping up on the web all over the place.

Techno

I recorded a techno/dance song in FL Studio 7.

I don't listen to techno, I've only heard a bit at dance parties, but this is what I came up with.

Pandora Profiles

Music Community — Posted: Jun. 25, 2007

Does anyone here use Pandora?

Here's my profile: http://pandora.com/people/steven625

The Greyboy Allstars station I have is one of my favorites. Those guys are amazing. Another is El Gaucho Rojo, the song. That station plays a lot of Santana/latin jazz-rock. I've also tuned it so it plays more instrumentals than anything, which is wonderful.

What's your Pandora profile, and what are your favorite stations?

Bluegrass! Yeehaw! Not country. I despise country. But bluegrass and newgrass are OK.

Also any jam bands - Phish, String Cheese Incident (which plays a lot of my favorite bluegrass as well), Widespread Panic, etc.

Ah, forgot about Popeye. That show inspired me to eat spinach, and now it's one of my favorite foods.

Favorite Cartoons

Entertainment Community — Posted: Jun. 21, 2007  ...   Last By: StevenCampbell @ 1 year ago

I know cartoons were created primarily for kids (although we've got South Park, Li'l Bush, and other "mature" cartoons), but I still find myself watching some from time to time. Currently my favorites are:
- Courage the Cowardly Dog (such a strange show)
- Tom & Jerry (for obvious reasons)
- Hey Arnold (if you ever pay attention to the plotlines of the episodes, they're very, very weird)
- Aqua Team Hunger Force (not a childish cartoon at all)
- The Simpsons (obviously)
- Futurama
- King of the Hill

What are your favorite cartoons (from childhood or otherwise)?

I tried learning Swahili by taking shortcuts. It doesn't work, and neither does learning instruments the easy way. I've started over and I'm gradually learning one word at a time.

Alternating currently between the String Cheese Incident, Grateful Dead, and They Might Be Giants CDs I have lying around.

Oh. You said new. Replace Grateful Dead with Widespread Panic.
