I’ll be the first to admit—TV sidekicks out-nerd (Chloe, the power behind Jack Bauer), out-funny (Cosmo Kramer), and just plain out-do (hello, Dwight Schrute) most predictable main characters. Sometimes I love them, sometimes I hate them, but there’s no doubt—I can’t forget 'em. True, they may be mere tagalongs to the Jerry Seinfelds, Michael Scotts, and Peter Griffins of the TV world, but these 15 show-stealing sidekicks have kept me tuning in…again, and again, and again (yes, I watch way too much TV).
I can agree that sometime the sidekicks make the show. However, let's not forget that almost NEVER has a sidekick made their own show work.
Joanie loves Chachi and Joey to Name a few. Though admittedly unlike Joanie loves Chachi, Happy Days did spawn 2 fun shows from minor characters that would not actually classify as sidekicks: Mork and Mindy as well as Laverne and Shirley.

What about the shows where it's only the sidekicks that matter? Like in Seinfeld... did anyone really care what Jerry was up to? It was all about George, Kramer, end even Elaine. Jerry had some good dialogue, but just wasn't as interesting.

Will and Grace was a lot less funny without Sean Hayes' character being there. I'd consider him a sidekick.

Well when it comes to shows like Seinfeld when does Seinfeld become the sidekick?
