I did and I was not impressed. The only good performance was Chris Brown.
Did anyone else notice how drunk Jamie Foxx was?
And when did they stop giving out awards at award shows? They hardly presented any.
What was your impression of this years VMA's?

I watched some of it and it only hammered home how much better the channel was when it was more about the music and less about fashion and drama.

Justin said the best when he challenged MTV to play more videos. I don't even watch regular MTV anymore, I stick to MTVJ.

I heard Britney was god awful so I'm waiting for the YouTube clip of her performance. I think the best description I heard about it so far was "awkward".

Wow I just watched her performance on MTV.com and ummmm....wow. Not a good wow, but wow what in the hell was she thinking. It looked like she didn't even want to go up there and only rehearsed the dances one time. She forgot the magical art of lip-synching completely and the face that 50 Cent makes is priceless. MTV has clips of all the performances so let me go checkout Chris Brown's now because I heard it was nasty.
Okay, just got done watching Chris Brown. If everyone could perform like him the world would be a better place.

Thank God what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, cause that was just awful.
I didn't mind Rihanna with Fall Out Boy on "Shut up and Drive." That was interesting.

I watched it and I wasn't surprised because I saw a clip of her rehearsing. I lost respect for MTV (not that I had a lot in the first place). They didn't have to start off the show with viewers seeing a zoomed in look at the back of her head and her messed up extensions. It's almost like they set her up for ratings. 50 Cent's look was priceless (classic WTF is she doing? look). Whoever did her makeup should get an award. Her face was flawless.
Chris Brown did an excellent job, which of course made Britney's performance really suck because his performance was right after hers. Alicia Keys did a great job as well. The comedian that came on after Britney (Sarah something) was awful to me. I expected more from Justin Timberlake. Being the finale performance and winner of the top award...he's done better. Perhaps they cut some things because they went over time-wise. I am a Justin fan but I think Chris' performance was more finale type.
@vicky - I normally don't watch those awards but I was surprised they gave out such a small number of awards. They were all partying hard for days. It was funny that Chris almost didn't get in because he's under 21. They let him in with strict warnings because he was performing. The VMAs stopped being about awards though, it's all about the drama that takes place. This year it was Kid Rock punching out Tommy Lee.
I've been to many "celebrity" parties and concerts. What is the deal with cramming a bunch of people into a VIP suite where there is barely standing room only for a concert? They were packed in there like sardines, the people in the back couldn't see. I don't get it.

I liked Kanye's performance on "Touch the Sky" and that "Good Life" song from his new album.
I find it humorous how Kid Rock and Tommy Lee got into a little scuffle. MTV is just garbage now though.

This was my first time watching the VMAs since 8th grade... and I'm a junior in college now. It was thoroughly disappointing, but maybe it's because I've kinda outgrown the whole MTV pop stars deal.
Chris Brown's dancing skills were amazing though! But I wish he'd done more Michael Jackson moves - he started for a minute when Billie Jean came on, getting me all excited. And the hyped up Britney Spears comeback was a giant letdown. I wish I couldve seen Britney's face as Sarah Silverman made jokes about her children being unplanned and coming out of a hairless vagina, ahahaha.
The VMAs were just another mind-numbing experience that reinforces why I don't watch MTV.

i'd rather punch myself in the junk then watch MTV. mtv awards viewership is in the tank, they barely secured the performers they had and low revenue is part of the reason it ended up in vegas. anything mtv and music no longer have any business being in the same sentence. they are more concerned wit how many version of the Hills they can make...urge to kill rising.

Wow....
that was pretty atrocious.
This reinforces my belief that all MTV productions need Trent Reznor. :)
I've not watched a VMAs since NIN preformed.

The show was pretty bad and seemed to be all over the place with no real direction. The show looked like it was just put together the day before it aired.
Pathetic really, but.not.that.surprising.

Seriously. It's not even really that bad of a single. It's even catchy, IMHO. She found a way to botch up her over-hyped comeback, and the only way she needed to do it was to get out-danced by her backups. But when you've been lip-syncing so long (even when it's all you've been known for at your live performances), you forget that your only redeeming grace is your dance moves and the energy you put into that since you can't really put any energy into a pre-recording. :P
She really forewent the dance execution for the excessive putting-her-hair-behind-her-ears.
I remember seeing a live performance of Baby One More Time back in the day (I think it was SNL or something but she was VERY new) and she actually sang. She was out of breath and her voice was shaky, though, and to be honest who wouldn't be with all those involved dance moves. I never heard of her singing live ever again.

thats britney spears? really?
You may think I live under a rock, but I've honestly never really seen her. Heard some of her songs though.
Someone needs to tell her those dance moves (and outfit) she was trying to pull off are only possible if you have a waist and an ass that doesnt sag.

Exactly. There is no reason we should have been able to see each individual fusion strand. Whoever did her extensions should be ashamed and embarrassed.

I never watch MTV or such but form what you all said Britney was not put together any less well than most performances or the show itself.
I never listened to her but that song is not half bad if you listen to it.
They need to leave her alone either way.
Poor thing.

Can't front on Chris Brown's performance (I checked it out after reading about it here). That kid performs like he has something to prove. That's all these other people need to do, right?

Check out my note about the break down of someone standing up for Britney's performance last night at the VMA's... too funny.
